シンコ・デ・マヨ？
Cinco de Mayo is a celebration that began in Mexico after the Battle of Puebla was won by Mexico in 1862. At that time, Napoleon III wanted to claim Mexican land for himself. To do this, he sent many fleets from France to Mexico.
Cinco de Mayo（スペイン語で5月5日）はプエブラの戦いで1862年にメキシコが当時占領されていたフランス軍からの勝利をお祝いするものです。当時、ナポレオン三世がメキシコを自分の土地にするためにフランスから多くの艦隊を送っていました。
After the battle at Puebla de Los Angeles was won by General Ignacio Zaragoza, Napoleon's troops retreated. This battle did not end the war with France, but it was an inspiring win for the Mexican army. Puebla de Los Angeles was renamed to Puebla de Zaragoza in honor of General Zaragoza and his victory.
プエブラ・デ・ロス・アンヘレでの戦いがイグナシオ・サラゴサ将軍によって勝ち取られた後、ナポレオンの軍隊は退去した。 この戦いはフランスとの戦争を終結に至らしめることは出来なかったが、メキシコ軍にとって勇敢な勝利だった。 プエブラ・ド・ロス・アンヘレは、サラゴサ将軍とその勝利を称えてプエブラ・デ・サラゴサに改名されました。

Today, Cinco de Mayo is a minor holiday in Mexico, but it has become a well-known holiday in the United States. Not to be confused with Mexico's independence day (September 16), in the U.S., Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage.
今日、シンコ・デ・マヨはメキシコのマイナーな休日ですが、米国では有名な休日になっています。メキシコ独立記念日（9月16日）とは違い、シンコ・デ・メイヨは、メキシコの文化と遺産を祝うものです。
シンコ・デ・マヨ の祝い方
People celebrate Cinco de Mayo with traditional Mexican foods such as mole poblano (a thick savory sauce over meat), chalupas (fried tortillas with salsa and onion), and chiles en nogada (a dish made with the colors of the Mexican flag). Cinco de Mayo is also well-known for parades, mariachi music, parties, folk dancing, and traditional dress.
人々は、Cinco de Mayoをモレポブラノ（肉の上に濃厚な風味のソース）、チャルゥパス（サルサとタマネギを入れたフライドトルティーヤ）、チレ・エン・ノガダ（メキシコの旗の色で作られた料理）などの伝統的なメキシコ料理でお祝いします。また、Cinco de Mayoは、パレード、マリアッチ音楽、パーティー、フォークダンス、そして伝統的なドレスを着ることでも有名です。
Some of the U.S. cities that celebrate Cinco de Mayo are Los Angeles, California; Chicago, Illinois; and Houston, Texas.
Cinco de Mayoを祝う米国の都市には、カリフォルニア州ロサンゼルス、 イリノイ州シカゴ; ヒューストン、テキサス州などがあります。
日本でもシンコ・デ・マヨ2017というイベントが東京お台場で開催されます。
