フランスの大晦日

Unlike Christmas, which is usually celebrated with your close family, French people have the habit of spending New Year's Eve with friends in a festive atmosphere.
家族とお祝いするクリストマスとは違い、フランス人は友達と一緒にお祭りのように大晦日を過ごす習慣があります。
The evening starts with drinks and snacks before a nice dinner that usually includes oysters, foie gras and delicious meat or fish depending on people's tastes. And of course champagne is served during the meal.
カキやフォアグラ、おいしいお肉や魚料理などの豪華なディナーの前に、まずは飲み物やスナックで大晦日の夜が始まります。
At midnight, people expect to receive kisses on both cheeks and a hearty bonne année (Happy New Year in French) and share their New Year's resolutions.
深夜0時になると、人々はお互いに心を込めて"bonne année" （フランス語の新年のあいさつ）と両頬にお互いのキスを受け、新年の誓いを語り合います。

In French, we usually say "Bonne Année et Bonne Santé" (Happy New Year and be healthy). It is common in France for people to keep wishing a happy new year (to the people they haven't met yet) until the end of January.
フランス語で新年のあいさつは、"Bonne Année et Bonne Santé" （明けましておめでとう、健康に気を付けて）と言います。フランスでは1月の終わりごろまでは年が明けてからまだ一度も会っていない人に会ったら新年のあいさつをします。

There aren't any special New Year's decorations like Japan, people usually keep the same ones they had for Christmas.
Most shops are closed on January 1st except for some such as bakeries, florists and some supermarkets. (Most of these shops are usually open in the morning only so they can let their employees spend New Year's Day with their family or friends.)
日本のようにお正月用の特別のデコレーションはありません、通常クリスマスのデコレーションをそのまま飾っています。元旦はほとんどのお店が閉まっていますが、パン屋や花や、スーパーは開いています。（従業員がお正月を家族や友達と過ごす時間を確保するため、ほとんどが朝の時間だけの営業です。）
In families with young kids, at least one of the parents takes some time off to spend time with the kids at home and play with the new toys that were received for Christmas.
小さい子供がいる家族は少なくても片方の親が休暇を取り、子供たちとクリスマスプレゼントのおもちゃなどで一緒に遊ぶ時間を作ります。
