First of all, let's look at the definition of the words "house" and "home":

House (n):
A house is simply the building where people live. The word 'house' doesn't necessarily suggest that anyone lives there, the focus is just that it is a building.

Home (n):
Home is the place where someone lives. It is a place that you go home to every night to sleep. It doesn't matter if it is a building, a tent or just a cardboard box - all of these can be your home if you live there.

Now let's take a look at the usage of "house" and "home":

House:
(動詞)Go / come / return / go back + to + (所有代名詞 possessive pronoun / 冠詞 article) + house

When we use "house", it is possible to use the preposition "to" because we are moving from one place to another physical location - the preposition "to" indicates the final location.

As we saw earlier, a house is a building so it is a physical location, therefore using "to" is possible.
In addition, there are millions of houses in the world so we need to add a possessive pronoun in front to indicate whose house it is.

A: Where are you going, Leon?
B: I'm going to Charlie's house to watch the football.

Why don't you come to my house on Friday?
Fran went to a gorgeous house in Kobe yesterday.

Home:
Go / come / return / go back + home

"Home is where the heart is" goes the old phrase and this is true also of the

definition of the word "home". As we learned, "home" means where you live - it is also the place in your heart or mind that tells you where you belong.

San Diego is your home"と言えます。"
If your parent's live in and have a house in Japan but you live in San Diego, USA and you feel you belong there, you can say that San Diego is your "home", as such we don't need to include the use of "to" in a sentence because it is not a physical location.

Because the word "home" obviously means where you live, we do not need any possessive pronoun, however it is sometimes used for emphasis or clarification.

    ● You should go back home before it's dark!

    ● David hasn't returned home for three days. I wonder where he is.
