ボジョレー・ヌーボーって何？
What is Beaujolais nouveau?

フランス、ブルゴーニュ地方の「ボジョレー地区」で製造されるワインで、その年の秋に実った葡萄のみを発酵して作られたワインの事を言います。
It is a wine made by fermenting grapes that were picked that Autumn in "Beaujolais" in Burgundy region of France.
「ヌーボー」は新種の、新しいという意味があり、合わせて新しいその年のワインという意味になります。
"Nouveau" means fresh or new and the two meanings are put together to express wine made that year.
その年に収穫されたブドウで造られた新酒で、ブドウが良質であるかを確認するためのものだそうです。
It is a fresh wine made from grapes harvested that year to check the quality of the grapes.

解禁日
Release date

ボジョレー・ヌーボーの解禁日は毎年、11月第3木曜日の午前0時と決められています。
The release date and time of Beaujolais nouveau is set on the 3rd Thursday of November at midnight.
日本では日付け変更線の関係で原産国のフランスよりも早くいただけてしまいます！
We can drink it earlier in Japan than in France due to the position of the international date line!
そもそもなぜ解禁日が設けられたのでしょうか？
Why is there a release date in the first place?
解禁日が設けられる前、フランスではボジョレヌーボーが売れるワインだと気づいたメーカーがこぞって早く出荷しようと考え、出来上がっていないワインまで売られるようになってしまったそうです。
Before having a release date, makers in France that realized that Beaujolais nouveau was a popular selling wine would try to ship the wine as early as possible and that resulted in wine that hadn't matured to be sold.
ワインの品質が保つために解禁日を設けるようになったそうです。
A release date was set in order to maintain quality.

フランスでは日本ほど、『ボジョレー・ヌーボー解禁！！』という熱はないそうです。
In France, there isn't as much interest in the "Beaujolais nouveau release date!" as there is in Japan.
今年のおいしいワインを先取りしたい！という雰囲気ではなく、「収穫を祝う」という意味合いが強いそうです。
Instead of wanting to be one of the first to get this year's delicious wine, there is a stronger emphasis on "celebrating the harvest."
なのでフランス人は日本人の盛り上がりには首をかしげているそうな・・・。
So, French people tilt their heads in confusion at the excitement of Japanese people.
日本ではバレンタインなどと同じように「PR」としてのイベント要素が強いのかもしれませんね！
In Japan, it may be "advertised" as a special event in a similar manner to that of Valentine's day!
